Umpire
Why become an Umpire?
- It’s a great way to support your netball club
- You’ll make even more netball friends
- You’ll improve your understanding of the game of netball
- You can earn money
- You’ll gain experience and skills which can be included on your resume. Umpires develop confidence, independence, resilience and communication skills.
- It’s a great way to maintain a healthy lifestyle
- It offers another way to participate in your favourite sport beyond playing the game (and there are pathways to umpiring netball at the highest level).
Rovers is committed to supporting and developing our umpires to ensure they achieve their best.

What if I make a mistake?
No problem. It’s all part of the learning journey.
When you begin, you will umpire part games in our Netta competition (with modified rules) and you will have a mentor who will assist you and provide you feedback until you gain confidence.
As you improve and develop competence you will progress to umpiring the Full Rules Netta Games and then ultimately will be assessed for Underwood Park’s Cadet level competition. Even from this point, you will continue to be supported by UPNA’s umpire coaches who will assist you with progression towards a National Level Badge accreditation.
